2024 Opal. Juventus Academy Scholarships

We are excited to confirm that international company, Opal, will continue as our major sponsor of Launceston City FC, Juventus Academy in 2024.

Opal is highly supportive of our academy vision to provide a leading technical player development program, while also ensuring the academy is accessible to and inclusive of, the widest range of player talent and potential from our community.

As part of our partnership, we are proud to announce a small number of ‘Opal Juventus Academy Scholarships’ for the 2024 season. The aim of these scholarships is to support players who demonstrate potential and commitment to compete at the highest level, who demonstrate our club’s values on and off the pitch, but who might not otherwise be able to access the Academy and/or would benefit from support to continue their football journey.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from 2024 Juventus Academy players or their families for these scholarships.

EOI must be completed by Sunday 24th March 2024 using the form below.

Question and Answers

Who is eligible to apply? What kinds of criteria are you considering?

Consistent with our club’s history and values, we appreciate the importance of making football accessible to the widest range of players and families as possible. We have considered our registration information and developed several criteria to help us to identify worthy recipients of an Opal Juventus Academy Scholarship

Opal Juventus Academy Scholarship Criteria
Female Football

Widening the participation of girls in our Academy and ensuring we have a focus on female football, is a strategic priority of our club and football in Australia.

Scholarships will be allocated to support the retention of talented girls and young women in our Academy.

Financial Hardship

Our club registration data helps us to understand that we have families who are not always able to afford the costs of registration and academy. These scholarships would help us to identify families and players who currently are registered to access the Tasmanian government initiative “Ticket to Play” registration.

Ticket to Play is designed to reduce the cost of sport registration for eligible children (e.g.- for children/families who have a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card.

Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity

Our club is built on a proud history of cultural diversity, we are committed to engaging further with our community to ensure we are as culturally inclusive as possible.

Scholarships may be given to support the involvement of a player who for example: is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent/ identifying as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, holds or is from a family on a temporary or provisional visa, or who is a recent migrant, refugee, or international student.

Home-grown Talent

For older academy players (age 16 and up) scholarship(s) will be allocated that recognise players that live our club values on and off the pitch and who model the aims of the Academy.

This ‘home-grown talent’ scholarship would be assessed off several criteria including
(1) having started at an early age and playing their full career with LCFC;
(2) showing significant talent and a commitment to training, teamwork, and personal development and
(3) is a player who demonstrates personal leadership, and who is likely to play senior football at the highest level in Tasmania and contribute to the LCFC.
