WELCOME TO THE HOME OF LAUNCESTON CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
Competing across Tasmania in Football Tasmania and Northern Tasmanian Junior Soccer Association endorsed competitions, Launceston City Football Club provides a pathway from junior to senior levels beginning form the age of 4 through to adulthood for both men and women.
Based out of Prospect Vale on the west side of Launceston, the club has continually represented the region at the highest levels of competition across the state since 1958. Our junior club is now one of the largest in the state, with more than 500 players. We offer access to a developed program and Skills Acquisition Program for all skills and ages. We also offer our Opal Juventus Youth Academy, which aligns with our mission to develop pathways and players to compete at the highest level.

On Saturday evening some of the LCFC Junior committee attended the NTJSA end of season presentation evening where we were very proud to receive the award for NTJSA Club of the Year!
We would like to acknowledge the huge effort put into season 2023 by all our volunteers including all our coaches, team managers, canteen staff and everyone else who chipped in across the season.
This year saw the club continue to grow with well over 500 junior players, from as young as 4 years of age!
Our efforts were also acknowledged in our Football Australia Club Changer award.
However, our greatest success was getting our 52 teams onto the field each weekend to play the game we all love - football ⚽️
On the evening we were joined by our Tom Strickland Award nominee Millie Van Est as well as some very special life members in Rob and Veronica Brewer and Ken Claridge, who’s efforts in previous years helped to build the foundations of the junior club we have today.
We congratulate all the nominees and award winners from the evening for their achievements - including LCFC player Jamari Lockhart who was awarded the Presidents Award!
On behalf of all the LCFC members we want to say a big thank you to all the committee members, referees and volunteers of the Northern Tasmanian Junior Soccer Association who ensure we have a competition each week.
We also want to thank all the committee members and volunteers of the clubs that we compete against each week for your respective seasons - we look forward to the festive season ahead before kicking off again in season 2024!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 - Peter arrived in Australia in 1960 with his wife, Christina. Soon after arriving, Peter watched his first ever game of football here in Tasmania at Coronation Park, when Launceston City FC (Juventus) took on Launceston United SC.
His journey with our club began that day, and 63 years later, Peter has rarely missed attending a home game ever since. He's been a player, coach, president and now club patron.
A huge thanks goes to Meander Valley Council for funding the production - it's a special story about a very special person.

Thank you so much for choosing us to be part of this project 🖤🤍
Loved his story, very similar to my own family’s start in this state. It’s true club people like Peter that make it enjoyable for so many people to play this great sport. Regardless of which club you play for or are aligned with, you can’t help but admire & respect what Peter has done for so long. Always enjoyed catching up with Peter at games & discussing the game, a very knowledgeable football person, that are just not common place these days. Well done Peter, you deserve all the accolades! 👏👏
What a lovely man you are Peter Mies.
Sarah Moore this is lovely

Peter Mieslove it! I’ll send it to everyone here
Wow. What an awesome piece of history and legend Peter is. I spent much of my youth at Coronation Park watching the soccer then eventually played with Peter up at Juventus. Wonderful story and a wonderful human being. And his forehead was a great target when I was crossing in from the left wing 🙂

Following our AGM today, it was fitting that our club could launch a very special living tribute to our patron and club legend, Peter Mies.
Thanks to a generous community grant from Meander Valley Council, the ‘Peter Mies Story’ was created through the exceptional work of Solstice Digital and Fontyn Sports Media.
The project bought Peter’s 63 years of involvement at Launceston City FC and Tasmanian football to life- in his own words, stories and images.
Thanks to Peter’s much loved family for their support, especially Roger Mies for his fitting opening and reflections. And, thankyou also to our twenty Launceston City FC valued life members who attended the celebration!
Sincere thanks to Stephanie Cameron - Deputy Mayor of Meander Valley, Councillor Ben Dudman - Meander Valley and Kevin House for Councillor - Meander Valley Council for attending. Also to LCC Mayor Matthew Garwood (and previous player) for attending, and to the The Mercury Newspaper for taking the time to cover this special event.
We will be sharing Peter’s story soon publicly, so stay tuned, but until then- please join us in celebrating this wonderful contributor to our football community. 👏🏻 🫶🏻🙏🏻

What a great tribute . It was a wonderful day. Thanks to Launceston City FC for acknowledging what the legend has done for the Club in over 60 years 🖤 🤍
Well deserved Peter.
What a great man. Congratulations on your contribution to Launceston City and to Tasmanian football.
Thank you, Meander Valley, Launceston City FC and Fontyn Sports Media, for the opportunity to be part of this project. As a relative newcomer to Tassie, the Peter Mies story struck a chord with me. Building a community with things that make us feel a bit more at home is where most of the clubs (and where we) started. Football is a universal language, and Peter's contribution deserves to be recognised in the legacy he has made for Roger, Noah, Liv and all the other members of his family, the players he nurtured, Launceston City Football Club and football in Tassie as a whole.
Absolute legend of the club.❤️
So well deserved
Thoroughly warranted for his contribution to football in Tassie, congrats

As the first club in Tasmania to receive a one ⭐️ Club Changer rating, LCFC is proud to announce it is in the final stages of applying for a second Club Changer star ⭐️ ⭐️ with Football Australia.
Achieving our second star involves a best practice action plan committed to child safeguarding and member protection, and aligns with new legislative requirements taking effect in Tasmania in 2024.
We look forward to providing our community with further updates on this process, as we continue to commit to best practice football club development!
