Under the guidance of NC Men's coach Dan Smith and NC1 Men's coach Wayne Wager, these sessions cater to a range of experience and commitment levels and are open to anyone interested in coming along to have a kick with Launceston City FC. Our WSL Futures program is an additional session per week, held on Mondays with club Technical Director Alex Aylott, for those that want to be a part of the journey as we return to the Womenโ€™s Super League in 2026. Our senior coach, Daniel Syson, had this to say: โ€œKazuki comes straight off the back of a D1 program and is one of the most technically skilful players within that program, with the ability to use both feet comfortably. He fits the profile of our system perfectly, and Iโ€™m really excited to work with him and have someone of his abilities within our teamโ€. Sys says that he is delighted with his 2025 squad of both international, national and local players: โ€œAlong with our great local talent, we have recruited with a view of bringing in players who have a deep understanding of the tactical side of the game so we are really pleased with the signingsโ€. Kazuki had this to say about joining our club: โ€œI am so excited to play as a member of Lauceston City FC, and I will give everything on this team to win the Season 2025โ€. While Jess will say our club is made up of many people who all deserve recognition; Jess has had a massive year in the club, driving a number of strategic initiatives which will set the club up for future success and sustainability. Jess is the LCFC Secretary and a director on our board. She wrote our clubโ€™s first strategic plan and is our Football Australia Club Changer Program lead, and has presented for FA - sharing experiences with other clubs in Australia. Jess has been a key driver in our female football program, including female football week and our Commbank Growing Football Grant. She has led several grants to help our club, including our recent Play our Way grant success, securing significant competitive national funding to transform our existing facilities for women and girls for generations to come. Jess definitely prefers working in the background be it strategy, sponsorship or events, and she is often behind the camera, capturing images of our club. In 2025, she will take up a place with the Australian Sports Commission to undertake a leadership course for female sports leaders selected from across Australia. Today we welcome Angus Taylor. Angus is Australian, but has spent much of his life in France. He has been playing football in a well recognised full time D1 university college program in Florida. Coach, Daniel Syson, describes Angus as a brilliant addition to the team, stating: โ€œAngus is an explosive and intelligent forward player with a great football IQ. Following in the footsteps of the late Peter Mies, club legend, who passed in May, it was time for us to appoint a new patron, which we know Peter would have wanted. Rosemary has been a long time supporter of our club, including as a past board member. We have always been delighted to welcome her and Bruce to the club, and appreciate how many of our events she attends given her many commitments. Fittingly, Rosemary attended and celebrated with us, the opening of the Peter Mies Pavilion, having known Peter and his family for years. As a member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council, Rosemary is a wonderful advocate for our community. Anyone that knows her, sees how tirelessly she works in and for our region. Rosemary had this to say about her patronage of Launceston City FC: 'I consider it an absolute privilege and honour to be named Patron of this outstanding family oriented Club. The sportsmanship and integrity of this highly regarded Club is second to none and I look forward to assisting wherever I can and attending as many games as possible.' As 2024 draws to a close, we take a moment to recognise an exceptional member of Launceston City FC โ€“ Josh Perry. After years of service as a Board Director and as Junior President for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Josh officially stepped down from both roles at our AGM. Building upon the foundation set by previous presidents, our Junior Division flourished under Joshโ€™s leadership, welcoming nearly 600 children and young people to proudly wear the black and white during our most successful season yet. Joshโ€™s contributions have shaped not just our Juniors but the entire club, fostering a culture of inclusivity, integrity, and passion. Whether coaching, flipping sausages on the BBQ, driving trailers (and portaloos!), pulling on the boots to support Social League, or securing sponsorships, Josh has always gone above and beyond for LCFC. Josh has built positive partnerships in our community, by understanding that the mission to develop and promote grassroots football in Tasmania can be much more successful when we work together. Weโ€™re thrilled heโ€™ll continue as Junior Vice President in 2025, but today, we simply say: Thank you, Josh, for everything. We are absolutely delighted and proud to confirm that we have been successful in applying for more than $600,000 in funding under the national Play Our Way grant program. This funding will be used to completely refurbish existing facilities to make way for new change-rooms, parent room and a multipurpose wellbeing room for women and girls. The program was open to all sporting codes in all states and territories and aims to fund investments and programs that support women and girls to access, participate and remain in sport and physical activityโ€. 160 organisations were funded nationwide, with more than 1000 submissions received. Club secretary and grant lead, Jess Woodroffe, had this to say: โ€œWe are beyond thrilled to have the support of, and funding from the federal government to support fully designated modern facilities for the women and girls in our community, and the next generation of LCFC female footballers. We were not in a position to apply for World Cup funding, so this was a real opportunity for us. To be shortlisted for this national funding, let alone successful, is absolutely incredibleโ€. Our club is proud of our continued efforts in this space and look forward to engaging with our community to in 2025 to ensure these facilities are fit for purpose and a new inclusive home for our WSL and NCW teams.
